Sports!

Jason Whitlock apparently had some cross things to say about RGIII.

This is an interesting article about the social-physical activities that have spawned in recent years.

Here is some commentary about the NFL's concussion settlement.

Paul McCartney has a new album out soon.

It appears that the Obama Administration is once again changing its mind on drug enforcement policy with respect to marijuana.  This seems reasonable to me.

The [insert item here] is too damn high.

Time Warner is the cable provider that I'll have the pleasure of patronizing in Manhattan.  Of course, they're more expensive than Comcast.  And apparently, they're in a feud with CBS and have blacked them out.  If I miss even a single episode of How I Met Your Mother...

The Washington Post is doing a series on the high cost of education.

One day I want to be the tipper in one of these stories.

Do you have the guts to pull something like this off?

This is happening today.

Uh Oh...

Apparently DC-based firms are starting to struggle.  Happily 1) my firm is not a DC-based firm and 2) your firm doesn't rely on the same sorts of government clients that struggling DC firms have.

This is terrible news.

Sometimes Cory Booker seems like more sizzle than steak.  But sometimes he says things that make me think, "That's reasonable and well thought out, and somewhat refreshing and original."

What do you think of this?

Mind your business!

responses
1. buzz feed is so amazing. this was linked from your article

r2r7
the way her shoes attach at the ankle makes it look like she's bound. and since she's photographed upside down on a chair, she's in a very vulnerable position. a male ceo would never be photographed this way. i tried to find a counterpoint and came up with richard branson who is also very glamorous. he's sitting in a hammock and he's barefoot - makes him seem normal and relaxed. but it looks like we're getting a sneak peak at his life - not that he's being presented to us on a silver platter. marisa looks purposefully contorted and put on display - she is facing us and there's no purpose for this shot other than the photograph - no one lies down on a chair uncomfortably like that at any point in the day or wears those clothes while lounging. she is being portrayed as an object whereas branson is a person.

hard truths #4 - i liked this line "“Too often what poses as cultural identity is, in reality, ignorance or bad education,” he said." so true.

Change your life!

There are some great food tips in this article.  Here are some other tips for your life.

That people have decided to criticize this man is appalling to me.  "You bastard - instead of giving him a computer and your time and skills, you should have given him a house!"

How do you feel about the new Mustang?

Don't work too hard!

I thought this would make me sad, but they're just moving the station a few feet.  Everybody needs to calm down.

Articles like this bother me.  It's as if you're supposed to shoot yourself in the face and make the worst of the situation if your preferred policies are not implemented.  If my parents had health insurance, and I made the decision not to have health insurance during my 20s for whatever reason, and Obamacare came along, I'm not going to violate the law because I don't like it.  But I'm also not going to choose the most expensive means of complying with the law (i.e. getting my own insurance policy if my parents have a policy).

Responses:

2. Ok, I have one week left!

3. I like what Cowen has to say.  I think the problem also relates to the concerns that surface in affirmative action with respect to kids struggling in schools that they're under-qualified for.  Also, sorry, but does Harvard really need preferential treatment in federal aid compared to, say, UMass?

4. 2 and 8 obviously.  But I had 6 at Bodega and they were good.  Also, now I feel bad that we didn't break out the watermelon because we could have tried 10.

7. I don't get "bound and helpless" from that photo.  Am I missing something, or is this just girls being girls?

can you spot the bear in this photo?

i like these wanderlust articles - things to think about going to see, short and digestible.

we've tried one

that tyler cowen article i mentioned

do you agree that these are "must make"?

for my later viewing

this is an interesting list

i don't know why the question is 'if she should look hot.' the question should be 'why does she look like she's bound and helpless in this photo?'

Hard Truths

Were we talking about paying it forward at the toll booth at some point?  If so, apparently Georgia heard us and is putting a stop to it.

Area 51 is real!

I'm not sure how I feel about this...

I am sure, however, how I feel about this.

This might be helpful reading.  (Note: I found a website called ENFP Forum, and the comments I saw about ENTJ's were pretty [redacted].)

The bunnies are out of control!

You guys should play nice or else you'll get into trouble!

Donovan McNabb and RGIII are apparently having a row.

Here is more about legalizing drugs, but from a conservative perspective.

The latest NCAA scandal has the group investigating Johnny Manziel for allegedly selling his autograph for money.  I don't understand how there is any reasonable justification for this rule.  Neither does Rick Reilly.

I want a grilled Bloody Mary.

I saw this on the Drudge Report.  What do you think?

I assume you read Carolyn Hax of your own volition, but this article reminded me of the conversations you and your mom have had about your brother.

I know you like Jim Carrey, so here are some career highlights.  Also, he's in Kick-Ass 2.

Back to cookout planning!

Wednesday is National Donuts and Fried Chicken Day.

It's mostly because Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken offers the Boston Cream doughnuts only on Wednesdays.  So you should buy me one.  Maple bacon also seems delicious.

Apparently UVA is pinching pennies when it comes to financial aid.  It seems reasonable to me, but I've seen some outrage on Facebook.  Which is like saying that I saw some cute bunnies.

Rabbit family wallpaper

I'm posting responses before the last item:

1. It looks like 5-3-1 has some competition.

2. That looks delicious.  Like, all of it.  Let's go!  But don't forget about brunch at The Pig this Saturday.  Have we made a reservation yet?

4/5. Please keep sending me these to remind me how much of a hillbilly I still am.

6. You never told me what you thought of the veggie kebab recipe.  I'm mostly interested in the marinade - the vegetable selection can be a little more impromptu, based on what looks good.

Someone posted this on Facebook a while ago, and I thought it was an interesting (if slightly long) read.  Here goes, after the jump:

you can't topple a bunny

where to go on the burgeoning 14th street scene

i want to go to there

because i love me some new year's resolutions

these are all great favorite things

this is bookmarked more for my ogling. reminds me of revenge

did you know yesterday was national oyster day? first tequila, then belgian national week, now this. i need to find the list of awesome national holidays and keep an updated calendar. we should make sure to find out when fried chicken and donut day is.

Do you plan to contribute to this blog anymore?

I was just looking back at recent posts, and the vast majority of them have been mine.  This is just a gentle nudging to get back on board!

If you think that I'm being mean, then maybe I'm Alex Trebek and you're the child in this story.  For the record, I read the story and thought the kid needed to man up.  :P

I've been reading a little about psychology in an attempt to understand myself and others better.  I thought this article was interesting.

Newspapers are apparently on sale these days.  The (former) owners of the Washington Post just sold it to Jeff Bezos, and the New York Times just sold the Boston Globe.

What do you think of this?
